Our commitment to making Cheza4Afya Akili usable by every child and family.
This states our intent and target standard honestly, but has not yet been verified by a formal accessibility audit (e.g. against WCAG 2.1 AA) or assistive-technology testing. Please commission one before making conformance claims publicly, and update this page with real findings.
1Our commitment
Cheza4Afya Akili is built for children with a wide range of needs, including children who use assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA across our website and mobile apps, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time project.
2What we've built with accessibility in mind
- Large, touch-friendly buttons and clear visual hierarchy throughout the child experience.
- A light and dark theme, so the app can be used comfortably in different lighting and by children with different visual needs.
- Plain, age-appropriate language, with content also available in Kiswahili and Kinyarwanda.
- Voice narration on select healing stories.
3Known limitations
We don't yet have a completed, independent accessibility audit, so we can't make a formal conformance claim. Some areas — particularly game content and less-common screens — haven't been specifically tested with screen readers. We're working through this systematically rather than claiming a standard we haven't verified.
