Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Cheza4Afya Akili when you use our web app or mobile app.

Draft — pending legal review

This is a structural first draft, accurate to how the product actually works, but not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Please confirm governing law/jurisdiction, dispute-resolution process, and liability terms with legal counsel before publishing.

1Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to every person who uses Cheza4Afya Akili — students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and safeguarding officers — through our website or our Android/iOS apps. A child's account is created and used under a parent's or school's responsibility; a parent or school accepts these terms on the child's behalf when creating that account.

2What Cheza4Afya Akili is — and isn't

Cheza4Afya Akili is a mental-wellness platform that helps children build emotional-regulation skills through daily check-ins, guided games, stories, and conversations with an AI companion, alongside tools for parents and schools to support that child's wellbeing.

Cheza4Afya Akili is not a substitute for professional mental-health care. It is not a crisis service. If a child is in immediate danger or crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line directly — our in-app safeguarding process is designed to identify and escalate concerns to trained staff, but it is not a replacement for emergency help.

3Accounts & responsibilities

  • Parents and school staff are responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide when creating or managing an account.
  • A student's login secret is personal to that child. Parents and schools are responsible for helping a child keep it private, and can request a reset at any time through their own account.
  • Adult users (parents, teachers, and staff) are responsible for keeping their own password and account secure, and for enabling additional verification where offered.
  • Accounts should not be shared between people, and should only be used by the role they were created for.

4Acceptable use

Everyone using Cheza4Afya Akili agrees not to:

  • Use the service to harass, harm, or endanger a child or any other user.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorisation.
  • Attempt to circumvent safety features, screen-time controls, or safeguarding processes.
  • Use the service for any purpose other than supporting a child's genuine wellbeing.

5Content & ownership

Stories, games, and other content within Cheza4Afya Akili belong to us or our licensors. A child's own check-in entries, journal-style reflections, and conversation history remain associated with their account and are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

6Changes, suspension, and termination

We may update the service, these terms, or suspend an account that violates them — particularly where a child's safety is a concern. A parent or school can request account deactivation at any time.

7Liability

[To be finalised with legal counsel — standard limitation-of-liability, "as is" service, and jurisdiction-specific consumer-protection carve-outs belong here.]

8Governing law

[To be confirmed with legal counsel, accounting for Tanzania and any other markets the app is published in via the Play Store / App Store.]
